The Correction Officers spent the last 17 weeks in a rigorous training program.


On Friday, March 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office will be holding a graduation ceremony for 58 new Correction Officers at the Van Nostrand Theatre at the Grant campus of Suffolk County Community College.  Family and friends will be present to celebrate the achievement.  During the ceremony, several awards will be presented to the members of the graduating classes including Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr.’s Award for Academic Excellence. 


The Correction Officers spent the last 17 weeks in a rigorous training program that included instruction in security and supervision, defensive tactics, legal issues, implicit bias training, essential services, chemical weapons and firearms, role-play, and more. These officers join a force consisting of nearly 800 Correction Officers working in the Suffolk County Correctional Facility.  Six of the new Correction Officers have prior law enforcement experience and many more are law enforcement legacies with family who have served in Suffolk Sheriff’s Office, Suffolk Police Department, NYPD and various law enforcement agencies.
