The fire caused extensive damage to the house and as a result, two residents were displaced from the home; 12 firemen suffered from exhaustion.


The Arson Bomb Squad Detectives report the details of a house fire that occurred on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at 3:50 pm in Lattingtown.


 


According to detectives, officers responded to a Great Meadow Road residence for a house fire.  The Locust Valley Department responded to the scene and were assisted by East Norwich, Oyster Bay, Glen Cove, Syosset, Bayville, and Jericho Fire Departments, utilizing over 100 members to extinguish the fire.  The Nassau County Fire Marshal and Arson Bomb Squad also responded to the scene.

Twelve (12) firemen suffered from exhaustion.  Eleven (11) members were treated and evaluated at the scene.  One member was transported to an area hospital for treatment.


 


The cause of the fire has yet to be determined and does not appear to be suspicious at this time. Investigation is ongoing.
