Annual Event Hosted by Cona Elder Law honors 30 couples and their secrets to relationship success.

Proving that a snowstorm can’t cancel true love, more than a dozen Long Island couples who have been together 50 years or more were feted at a celebratory post-Valentine’s dinner in Port Jefferson recently to celebrate their long-lasting relationships. The event, sponsored by Cona Elder Law, was originally scheduled for Feb 13 and postponed due to a snowstorm.

Among the couples were Terry and Art Causin of Melville, NY, who will celebrate their 58th wedding anniversary this spring. They say the secret to their marriage success is their love of tandem bicycle riding.

“We bike about 3,000 miles a year,” said Terry Causin. “It’s a beautiful racing bike that was made just for us. We drive a van to transport the bike because it’s eight feet long.”

The couple has traveled across the country to ride in scenic and memorable places.

“It’s the ultimate test of a marriage,” joked Art Causin. “We’ve been doing it for 30 years.”

“We host this event to celebrate love and honor couples who have been together for over half a century,” said Melissa Negrin-Wiener, Senior Partner at Cona Elder Law. “Their relationships are truly an inspiration and a roadmap for how to enjoy life and each other.”

This is the second time Cona Elder Law has hosted the event. The first was in 2020, just prior to the pandemic shutdown.
