“The selection of our scholars for the NMEA All-County Music Festival is a testament to their talent and the quality of our music education,” said Superintendent Dr. Monique Darrisaw-Akil.

Uniondale School District proudly announces the selection of 44 students for participation in the 2024 Nassau Music Educators Association (NMEA) All-County Music Festival, commencing January 7 at the Tilles Center. The event showcases top student musicians from across Nassau County.

“The selection of our scholars for the NMEA All-County Music Festival is a testament to their talent and the quality of our music education,” said Superintendent Dr. Monique Darrisaw-Akil. “We are proud to see such a diverse representation from our District.”

“This achievement by our scholars highlights their dedication and the exceptional training provided by our faculty,” said Director of Fine and Performing Arts Kelvin Jenkins. “It’s an honor to have our scholars from various schools participate in this prestigious event.”

The 44 selected students represent the band, orchestra and chorus from California Avenue School, Grand Avenue School, Lawrence Road Middle School, Northern Parkway School, Smith Street School, Turtle Hook Middle School, Uniondale High School and Walnut Street school. They were nominated based on their musical achievements and NYSSMA scores, with the NMEA selection committee making the final choices out of thousands of nominees.

This selection aligns with the District’s goal to enhance literacy and numeracy while promoting creative arts. The festival offers these students a platform to showcase their talents and gain valuable performance experience.
