The National Hurricane Center said Tropical Storm Don intensified into a hurricane late Saturday, July 22, with sustained winds of 75 mph.

But as it moved into cooler waters, causing its winds to weaken, it was downgraded to a tropical storm.

Don, the fourth named storm of the season, is expected to move northeastward.

“An area south of where the Don rotates is a corridor to observe further tropical development,” AccuWeather.com said.

The 2023 Atlantic hurricane season began on Thursday, June 1 and runs through Thursday, November 30.
