Beginning Monday, July 24, both directions of the Long Island Thruway will be closed at Exit 65 (Horse Block Road) in Brookhaven Township from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for two nights.
The New York State Department of Transportation said the closures will allow crews to establish new temporary traffic patterns for bridge maintenance projects.
Traffic will be detoured to service roads during this time.
We urge drivers to plan ahead for possible delays and remind drivers that fines for speeding in work zones will be doubled.
