An air quality health warning was issued for all areas of New York on Monday, July 17. (See image above.)

The measure, which went into effect at midnight and lasts until 11:59 p.m., targets fine particulate matter in the New York City metro area, the Hudson Valley, the Adirondacks, eastern Lake Ontario, central New York and western New York.

The advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. for ozone on Long Island and the New York City subway.

The first few days of the workweek were hot and humid, with temperatures above 80 degrees on both days.

Scattered thunderstorms are possible Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Wednesday, July 19 is expected to be sunny with highs in the 80s.
