The incident occurred on Friday, July 14 at approximately 9:20 p.m. in the 1600 block of Deer Park Avenue in Deer Park.
The victim, Deborah Strauch, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Suffolk County Police.
Her 26-year-old son, Tyler Strauch, was charged with second-degree murder.
He is due to appear at Central Islip 1 Local Court on Saturday, July 15.
