The outage was caused by a storm system that arrived in the area on the evening of Thursday, July 13 and continued through the morning of Friday, July 14, bringing downpours and gusty winds.

As of approximately 11:30 a.m. Friday, PSEG Long Island reported a total of 1,006 customers without power. This includes:

  • 964 customers without power in Suffolk;
  • 42 customers lost power in Nassau.

More storms could hit the region Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.
