According to Nassau County Police, the incident occurred around 9:50 a.m. on Thursday, July 13 in Massapequa.

A 70-year-old man was riding his bicycle southbound on North Linden Street when he was struck by a gray 2022 Buick Suburban.

The SUV was traveling eastbound on North Linden Street at the time. After hitting the cyclist, the car suddenly veered off the road and into a small body of water nearby, police said.

Authorities reported that the driver of the Buick, a 74-year-old woman, remained at the scene.

The cyclist was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.

The incident is still under investigation and no other information has been released.
