Patricia W. Wood
Patricia W. Wood, known to her relatives as Pat, died peacefully at her home in Greenport, New York on June 29, 2023, at the age of 85. She was born June 23, 1938, in Yonkers, New York, to the late Martin and Vera Whalen.
Patricia is an independent woman who loves her family very much. In 1992, she moved to North Fork and became involved with the community wholeheartedly. She is an active member of various organizations including Cutchogue Homemakers, Southold Seniors and North Fork Parish Outreach, where she volunteered until recently. Patricia’s helpful dedication and her warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Patricia is survived by her daughters Maura (Sam) Maschinski, Gillian Wood and Kirstin (Rob) Cafanini. She is survived by her brothers Thomas and Gary Whalen, eight grandchildren, a great-grandchild and six nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her son Thomas, brother Marty and sister Donna.
Patricia graduated from Sacred Heart High School and went on to Marymount College, where she earned a degree in Education.
Patricia touched the lives of many and will always be cherished by her family and friends. May she rest in peace. A memorial service honoring Pat’s life will be held in the future.
