Valley Stream resident Mactyme Michel, 19, was indicted on Monday, July 10 in connection with the January 2023 death of a high school student in Long Beach, the Nassau County District Attorney announced.

On January 12, 2023, Michel was driving a 2012 Honda Pilot heading northwest on Cantiague Lane in Westbury.

It is alleged Michelle drove around the car in front of her at about 2.25pm ​​and continued on without stopping at the stop sign at the Sunnyside Lane intersection.

While Michel was still driving on the left side of the road, he reportedly hit 18-year-old Gerrin Hagen from behind.

The injured teen was walking from the BOCES location in Nassau to his car on a skateboard when he was hit.

Hagan, who was a field hockey and lacrosse senior at Long Beach High School and a senior at the high school, was taken to Nassau University Medical Center where he died of his injuries the next day.

“Hagan was a talented ice hockey and lacrosse player who was beloved throughout the Long Beach community,” said Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly.

“As this case is prosecuted, our condolences continue to be with his family, friends and classmates.”

On Monday, July 10, Michelle turned herself in to the Nassau County Homicide Squad.

He pleaded not guilty to criminal manslaughter and will return to court for trial on Monday, August 21.

If convicted, he faces a year and a third to four years in prison.
