Kenneth Eckhoff, 70, of Mastic Beach, was charged with multiple counts of felony burglary in Suffolk County Court on Wednesday, July 12.

According to prosecutors, Eckhoff burglarized the following Suffolk County businesses between May and June 2023:

  • Carpet Warehouse, Lake Grove, 2970 Middle Country Road
  • Villa Grazie Pizza, Centereach, 1665 Middle Country Road
  • Rainbow Shops at 257 Middle Country Road, Centereach
  • Carpet Warehouse, Lake Grove, 2970 Middle Country Road
  • Jiffy Lube, 1064 Mid Country Road, Selden
  • Coachella Nail Spa at 3076 Middle Country Road, Lake Grove
  • Islander Laundromat, Farmingville, 1021 Portion Road

In most cases, he gained access to businesses by removing glass or panels from doors, prosecutors said.

Suffolk County Police arrested Eckhoff on Tuesday, June 27.

“Local businesses are at the heart of our Suffolk County community. When they are targeted and victims of theft, the cost burden falls on the consumers the business serves,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond De Tierney said.

Eckhoff was ordered in court Wednesday to hold $100,000 in cash or $200,000 in bail. He will appear in court again on Thursday, July 27.
