Suffolk County Police reported that the first robbery alert came on Monday, July 10, when a would-be robber attempted to rob the Yaphank Chase bank around 10 a.m.

The woman, wearing a face mask and motorcycle helmet, slipped a note to the teller asking for cash, but when the teller refused to comply, she left on a waiting motorcycle.

Hours later, police were notified of a second incident, this time at TD Bank just 11 miles from Portion Road on Lake Ronkonkoma.

Around 3 p.m., the woman, again wearing a face mask and motorcycle helmet, handed a note to a TD teller asking for cash.

This time, the teller agreed.

She took the money and hopped on the back of a waiting motorcycle that police said was traveling west on part of the road.

Detectives again urge anyone with information about either incident to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 631-852-6555.

Alternatively, you can call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS.
