The crash occurred around 7 p.m. on Monday, July 10 in East Patchogue at the intersection of Americus Avenue and Brookhaven Avenue.

According to Suffolk County Police, a 1998 GMC van driven by Felix Cortes was traveling eastbound on Brookhaven Avenue when it was struck by a southbound vehicle. The 2022 Dodge Charger hits.

The impact of the accident caused the GMC to overturn and Cortes and two passengers, Travis Soto Rudgers and Janisse Cortes, were ejected from the vehicle.

The driver of the Dodge, Dayquan Rivera, and passenger Brandon Bermudez fled the scene, police said.

Another passenger in the Dodge, Trayquan Brame, remains at the scene.

Cortez, 33, of North Bellport, was airlifted by police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. His 8-year-old daughter Janisse Cortes was airlifted to the same hospital with minor injuries.

Rajs, 40, of North Bellport, and Bram, 23, of Patchoag, were taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchoag with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said they located Rivera, 24, and Bermudez, 22, at Long Island Community Hospital, where they were both being treated for minor injuries.

Rivera was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of the accident causing bodily harm.

He will appear at Central Islip 1 Local Court later.
