Much of Route 58 will be closed on Saturday, July 8 as the Riverhead Fire Department hosts a Suffolk County Fire Maneuver Drill and Parade on Saturday.
Route 58 will be closed from Mill Road to Roanoke Avenue in the west, according to police. The parade will start at the roundabout at 10am and end at the training ground near the armory, where exercises will take place 45 minutes later.
Fire departments across Suffolk County are expected to participate in the parade and subsequent race. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Roanoke Avenue will be limited to local traffic between Pulaski Street and the traffic circle, according to police.
Police said road closures were in place from 9:30am to 12:30pm and urged people to take alternative routes.
The event, which features bucket teams and truck racing, was last held at Riverhead in 2010, 24 years before that.
