“There is nothing more important than the safety of our children, and we have this workshop to improve pool safety,” said Supervisor Joseph Saladino.

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino, Town Council members and Catholic Health are partnering to host a free pool safety workshop for residents and non-residents at Syosset-Woodbury Park on Friday, July 7, 2023. Families are encouraged to attend because children under the age of 15 account for more than 78 percent of pool immersion injuries each year in the United States, and 67 percent of these include children under the age of 3. No pre-registration is required for this event.

Superintendent Saladino said: “There is nothing more important than the safety of our children and in order to improve pool safety, we are holding this workshop to save lives through public education and awareness. We hope you have fun in the sun , while always being prepared to respond to emergencies.”

Workshop attendees will learn from professionals on healthy swimming, basic first aid, hypothermia, cramps, drowning prevention, basic CPR (not certified), recreational water health and EMA ambulance education. The workshop was sponsored by Optimum, News 12, KJOY 98.3FM, WHLI 1100AM, MAX FM 103.1, Stew Leonard III Water Security Foundation and Nassau County.
