Scattered showers were expected in parts of the region Sunday morning, July 2, with thunderstorms forecast for the area in the afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather outlook statement.

“Several storms are likely to become stronger and even more severe, with strong winds the primary threat,” said a statement released early Sunday morning.

Heavy rainfall is also possible in some areas.

Cloud cover will keep temperatures above 70 degrees.

Monday, July 3 will be sunny with high temperatures rising above 80 degrees Fahrenheit, with renewed showers and storms expected in the afternoon and early evening.

Tuesday, July 4, is expected to be sunny with temperatures in the high 80s.

Earlier forecasts called for Tuesday to remain dry, with the National Weather Service’s latest outlook predicting a chance of showers and storms starting in the early afternoon and ending in the evening.

Tuesday’s high will be around 80 degrees.

Temperatures could hit the 90s on Wednesday, July 5 and Thursday, July 6, with mostly sunny days.
