The incident occurred just before midnight on Saturday, July 1, on the westbound side of South State Parkway near Exit 15 in Hempstead.
New York State Police said Herving Armond, 38, of Huntington Station, was riding a 2009 Suzuki motorcycle when he veered off the road and hit a sign and was killed at the scene.
The accident is under investigation and state police are asking anyone who witnessed or has information to call 631-756-3300.
In addition to the police, other state police agencies responding to the scene were:

- Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU),
- Forensic identification unit.
