On Friday, June 30 at approximately 5:00 p.m., a 911 caller reported a man had been stabbed in a fight in a motel room.

Suffolk County Police said there was a group of people in the room at the time of the altercation.

The man was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.

He has now been identified as James Vaughn, 63, of Mastic.

Investigation continues.
