According to Suffolk County Police, the incident happened on Friday, June 30 at around 10:30 a.m. in West Babylon.
Julia Karatnytsky, a 22-year-old girl from West Babylon, was biking south on 11th Avenue near the intersection with Herzer Avenue.
An oncoming 2004 Dodge Ram truck, traveling east on Herzer Avenue, hit her.
Kalanitsky was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and the vehicle has been impounded for security checks.
