According to Nassau County Police, the incident happened on Saturday, June 10 at 10 p.m. in Uniondale.
The victim, now Uniondale resident Sergio Vera, 60, was struck by a 2018 Mercedes as he was crossing south on Front Street near New York Avenue.
Vera suffered a head injury and was in critical condition. Villa succumbed to his injuries, police announced Thursday, June 29.
The driver, Eric O. Wheatley, 44, was arrested an hour later.
He is accused of:
- vehicle attack
- Drunk driving
Whitley will appear at First Magistrates Court on Wednesday, July 26.
