On Friday, June 29, the New York Lottery announced that Islip resident Genine Plummer won the $1,000 weekly lifetime second prize for matching the first five numbers in the May 2022 CASH4LIFE game.

The winning numbers drawn were 3, 9, 33, 57, 58 and Cash Ball 1.

CASH4LIFE’s second prize guarantees the winner will receive a minimum prize of $1,000,000. Winners can choose to receive the bonus in one lump sum or a lifetime annuity.

“I was shocked and surprised by everything,” Plummer told the New York Lottery. “I’m at a loss.”

Lottery officials said Plummer made the claim after the lottery alerted players that their lottery tickets would expire on Friday, May 26.

The retired Postal Service employee received the message two weeks before the date, double-checked her lottery ticket and claimed her winnings on the due date.

Plummer elected to receive his $33,852 bonus in annual installments after deducting required withholding taxes.

Asked for her advice to other players, she said: “Keep playing like I did, check your tickets like I did, especially if you have a lot of tickets on hand.”

Her winning ticket was purchased at the Bay Shore ShopRite at 1905 Sunrise Highway

Total sales of CASH4LIFE GAME for the fiscal year 2021-2022 are $120,868,815. During the same period, the Suffolk County School District received $270,015,864 in Lottery education assistance.
