On the morning of Monday, June 26, Riverhead Police said Jairon Canahui, 30, from the village of Mattituck, was shot at about 1.45am on Monday, June 19, 2019. He died after being hit by a motor vehicle in the village of Jamesport.
The incident happened on Sound Avenue, west of Pier Avenue.
“An investigation is ongoing,” Riverhead Police said, noting that the incident “is not currently being treated as a crime and anyone who was in the area at or before the incident is urged to contact Riverhead Police at 631-727-4500.”
