Another major real estate mogul is trying to please Lady Luck and the New York State Gaming Commission.

Larry Silverstein added a proposal at the last minute bid pool Obtained one of three in-state gambling licenses from The New York Times report.

Silverstein Properties’ development, called Avenir, will be developed on undeveloped land at the corner of 41st Street and 11th Avenue on Manhattan’s Far West Side. The 1.8 million-square-foot development calls for two 46-story towers connected by sky bridges.

The casino will sit at the base of the property, which also includes a hotel, a performance hall and about 100 units of affordable housing. Nancy Ruddy of CetraRuddy is one of the architects of the proposal, and the owner of the Parx Casino in Pennsylvania is also a partner in the bid.

Silverstein said the appeal of his bid was that while it was close to many neighborhoods, it wasn’t the center of any. This can reduce the chance of local resistance; many proposals in Manhattan face some degree of community opposition.The site is also close to the Javits Center, which has been cited by related companies Hudson Yards Proposal.

silverstein has actually talked about his anti-gambling beliefsbut for ztimes, the needs of the community are more important than his personal preferences.

Whether his arguments will have an impact remains to be seen. The state is expected to issue three gaming licenses, two of which are suspected to have been granted at the Aqueduct Racetrack and the “speedway” at Yonkers Speedway.

The competition for the last license is fierce.Along with Manhattan’s Silverstein and Associates, SL Green, Caesars and Jay-Z are behind the bid for times square; Vornado Real Estate Trust Herald Square; and the Soloviev Group and Mohegan Midtown East.
