New York Governor Kathy Hochul issued the following statement regarding the heavy rainfall that is expected to impact the state starting Friday and continue through next week, which could pose a safety risk to some residents.


“Nearly every area of ​​the state will experience thunderstorms or heavy rainfall over the next few days, putting many communities at risk of isolated flash flooding. Localized flooding is possible in New York City, Long Island, the central Hudson, and southern regions. Upstate Areas including the Capital Region, Upstate, Mohawk Valley, and Central New York are also at risk of excess rainfall and isolated flash flooding.
