The seller, first reported by The Real Deal, is Hankey Capital, a Hancock Park-based firm led by billionaire Don Hankey, who made his fortune on subprime auto loans.

Hankey is the biggest creditor of The One, the ill-fated mansion in Bel-Air, which is up for auction in March 2022 for $141 million.

Hankey Capital acquired the partially built home at 1410 Tanager from foreclosure in 2019. With the help of Plus Development, Hankey built a luxury building on a hillside.

Completed early last year, the five-bedroom, eight-bathroom mansion sits on half an acre and listed for $34 million last May. In February, the price dropped to $30 million.

Designed by Mid-City’s Vantage Design Group, this contemporary three-story home features walls of glass that frame views of the Los Angeles skyline.

It includes a foyer with skylights, an elevator, a wine room with a jade marble bar, custom walnut millwork, and a gym with a yoga area overlooking the atrium. The hotel has a steam room, a dry sauna and an infinity pool.

The master suite has indoor/outdoor bedrooms and baths, each with a balcony with retractable glass doors. The house has three guest rooms and a maids quarters.

Beverly Hills Estates agents Brandon and Renee Williams and official Tyrone McKellen hosted the listing. AKGRE agent Michael Chen represented the buyer.

The mansion is a mile from 1301 Collingwood Place, another Bird Street mansion that sold this month for $37 million.
