According to the Rockaway Nassau Safety Patrol, the incident occurred on Monday, June 19, in North Woodmere Park.

It appears to have been first reported by the Instagram account 5townscentral, which informs the community about crime updates, stolen pets, events and more.

According to the first report, the swastika was discovered by a young daughter and her mother near a playground swing.

“Disgusting!!!!!!” One user commented that they used to go to the park for summer camp, writing, “I’d be freaking out if I saw this when I went, especially since most of the camps Lots of kids.”

RNSPl officials shared more pictures of the scene on Facebook.

Congressman Anthony P. D’Esposito retweeted a photo of the 5townscentral Instagram post on Tuesday, June 20.

“We must continue to crush anti-Semitism and all forms of hatred,” he wrote. “23 years in #NY04, no one should see swastikas on the playground.”

The RNSP and the Nassau County Police Department are continuing to investigate the incident.
