The incident occurred in Suffolk at around 1.20am on Tuesday 20 June at the Cuban Hill Road railway junction in the hamlet of Huntington, Greenlawn.
MTA officials said the person, who has not been identified, was struck by an eastbound train.
The train service was delayed for two hours and returned normally at around 3.30am
The MTA Police investigation is ongoing.
