The incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. on Monday, June 19, in Jamesport, on Sound Avenue near Pier Avenue.
A Riverhead Township Police Department investigation found a 30-year-old Riverhead man was struck by an eastbound Ford pickup truck while walking on the roadway.
Police are not releasing the victim’s name, pending notification of family members, who was taken by ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center for serious injuries.
The pickup truck driver remained at the scene and called 911. Police said he was not expected to face criminal charges.
