Siran Anahid Kalaijian, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend of many, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at her home in Mattituck, NY at the age of 46

Siran was born on May 13, 1977, at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York. Siran, the daughter of Stephan and Kathryn Kalaijian, was baptized at St. Vartan’s Armenian Cathedral in New York City. She grew up in Bayside, NY, and graduated from St. Francis Preparatory School in 1995, where she competed in track and field and played varsity football. After high school, Siran attended the University of Massachusetts and the New York Film Academy in New York City.

During his childhood, Siran spent summers and vacations with his family at the summer house on Bergen Avenue in Mattituck. Siran fell in love with Long Island and moved to North Fork full-time after college. Siran will be remembered for his love of music, dogs, cars, cooking and art.

Cooking is a special passion for Siran, and nothing she loves more than spending holidays with her mother, father, and siblings, making barac (Armenian triangle spinach), lamb, baba ghanoush, and countless other delicacies. An adventurous cook and eater, she’s always eager to try new recipes, especially if they include local North Fork ingredients like striped bass, oysters, sweet corn, tomatoes, and other produce.

Most of all, Siran will be remembered for his selflessness and kindness to others. She was always willing to help those in need and frequently provided care for the sick and wounded, including hospice care for the terminally ill. She volunteers with Southold’s CAST Center for Advocacy, Support, and Transformation, among other charities. She enjoys spending time with her family and dear friends, especially her beloved nieces and nephews. Her warmth, caring, love, sparkling personality and smile will be fondly missed by many.

Siran is survived by her father Stephan, mother Kathryn, her siblings Seta, Amerika and Gregory, and her nieces and nephews Cooper, Whit, Mac, John, Elizabeth and Taliah. She was also survived by her ex-husband, Steve Libretto, with whom she shared many fun and exciting moments with race cars and other vehicles.

Siran’s memorial service will be held at Mattituck Presbyterian Church, 12695 Main Drive, Mattituck, NY on Sunday, June 25 at 1 p.m.
