Frito-Lay today issued a voluntary recall of some 15 oz. Canned Tostitos avocado salsa is down due to the possible presence of an undeclared milk allergen, according to an announcement from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

“Those with a milk allergy or severe sensitivity are at risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products,” the announcement said.

While the front of the affected jar was correctly labeled as Tostitos Avocado Salsa, the back of the jar was incorrectly labeled with another product’s nutritional information and claims, Frito-Lay said, noting that “therefore, allergen milk was not on the label.”

The products involved in the recall were sold nationwide through retail stores and e-commerce channels. Consumers will be able to purchase the jars as early as Wednesday, April 5, 2023.

The recalled products have a UPC barcode ending in 0559 and a “best before” date of 2 NOV 23 or 3 NOV 23.

No other Tostitos products, flavors, sizes or dip varieties are being recalled.

To date, no allergic reactions have been reported in connection with this matter. If a consumer has a milk allergy or severe sensitivity, this product should not be consumed and should be discarded immediately.

Consumers who own the products listed below may contact Frito-Lay Consumer Relations at 1-800-352-4477, Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 5:30 pm EST.
