It happened on Saturday, June 17 at around 4.40am in Commack.
Suffolk County Police said a man was driving a 2023 Chevrolet pickup truck westbound on Vanderbilt Parkway near Red Leaf Lane when his vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree.
The victim, identified as Edward Riley, 58, of Ronkonkoma, was alone in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
