The touching incident was captured in a video posted to Tik Tok Massapequa Realtor Greg Masaitis spoke on Sunday, June 4.

“She’s like a day old. I hope she doesn’t fall in the pool, I have to go and save her,” Mathias said in the video, seconds before the fawn walked straight into the pool outside his St. James home.

When it became apparent that the young animal was unable to escape on its own, Mathertis and his son Anthony sprang into action.

“Get her out,” he told the boy. “Pull her out.”

The fawn then swam to the other end of the pool and Anthony quickly grabbed it.

“When you get her out, just let her go, because Momma won’t be happy,” Mathertis said.

Video shows the deer falling into the pool a second time before Anthony can pull it to safety again.

“I just saved a little baby,” Anthony can be heard telling his dad.

In a TikTok update the next day, Masaitis said the fawn was reunited with its mother and was “fine.”

“We’ll update you when we find some videos with them,” he said.

As of Wednesday, June 14, the rescue video had been viewed more than 19.8 million times.
