Dirty Taco + Tequila’s Smithtown location at 716 Smithtown Bypass officially opened to the public on Friday, June 16, much to the excitement of Long Islanders and taco lovers alike.
Dirty Taco + Tequila, which bills itself as “half LA taco truck, half Asian street food with an urban street vibe,” launched in 2018 with creative tacos and cocktails.
Since then, the restaurant has gone from strength to strength, much to the delight of its loyal fans.
Yelp reviewer Tori T. of Miller Place wrote about the new location, “I love Dirty Taco in Patchogue so I had to check out their new Smithtown soft opening and I’m obsessed!!”
Citing the larger bar area and “open and airy feel,” Tori claims she may make the Smithtown location her new Dirty Taco spot.
Winner of two consecutive Bethpage “Best of Long Island” awards for best tacos, it’s clear that Dirty Taco doesn’t mess around when it comes to dishes.
Among the taco options are beloved classics such as birria, carne asada and Baja tacos, but more adventurous eaters can choose from a wide variety of dishes – including Thai meatballs , Vietnamese shrimp and tofu quinoa tacos.
“I didn’t expect this variety when it came to tacos,” wrote Yelp reviewer Albert K. for Dirty Taco’s Woodbury location.
“And it’s all delicious!”
To water down the food, the restaurant serves “dirty cocktails” that showcase the unique flavor combinations that don’t end with the tacos.
While Dirty Taco offers many different cocktails and spirits, its most popular variation appears to be the margarita, which comes in classic flavors as well as craft flavors like blueberry walnut or watermelon basil, according to Yelp reviewer Katlyn O. It’s “unbelievable”.
Gary Dvoskin, a regular on the popular Long Island Food and Beverage Facebook page, visited the Smithtown soft opening location and left rave reviews.
“Dirty Tacos in Smithtown is so much fun,” he wrote, “What an exciting place to party.”
Dwoskin wrote that the new location can accommodate a lot of people, and praised the location’s balance of food and fun, as well as the insinuating themed decor.
“Every time they open a new place, it’s better than before and this one is phenomenal!!”
