On Friday, June 16, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Suffolk County Police received a 911 call from Melissa O’Brien, 32, of West Islip, reporting that two people were in her home on Gladstone Avenue. A man with a gun.

After the police arrived on the scene, O’Brien again stated that there were armed men in her house, causing the police who received the call to surround her home.

Moments later, a family member reportedly saw activity outside, left the house and told police that no one was home. Police inspected the house and confirmed that no one was inside.

Suffolk County officials also reported that an officer responding at a false crime scene was involved in a car crash on Saxon Avenue and Union Avenue in the Gulf Coast

She was treated at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the other driver was not injured.

O’Brien was charged with lying about the incident.

She is due to appear at Central Islip First Local Court on Thursday, July 6.
