Detectives from the Suffolk County SPCA announced that Port Jefferson Station resident Adam Dziomba, 53, was arrested Friday, June 16 on animal cruelty charges.

SPCA officials responded to a local animal hospital and discovered that Dziomba’s two chihuahua puppies, Freddy and Tonto, were showing symptoms of a cocaine overdose.

Both puppies are 15 weeks old.

Narcan is given to dogs to reverse an overdose because cocaine is fatal to dogs.

Dziomba’s puppies suffered from ingesting cocaine and fentanyl, an investigation said.

He has been charged with two counts of animal cruelty and is due to appear in First District Court on Friday, June 16.

Suffolk County SPCA Superintendent Roy Gross encourages anyone who witnesses any incident of animal neglect or cruelty to contact the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722.
