Besart Astafa, 28, of Deer Park, was arrested Tuesday, June 13, after removing all his clothes at the Farmingdale Mosque, according to Nassau County Police.

The incident came hours after Astafah was released without bail for a similar crime committed at the same mosque.

Astafah was first arrested on Monday, June 12, after he entered the Masjid Bilal Mosque at 425 Fulton Street, took off all his clothes and walked through the common areas of the building.

He also hit an electronic tablet on the wall of the mosque, smashing it.

After his release on Tuesday, June 13, police said Astafah returned to the Masjid Bilal mosque and stripped off his clothes again.

Police arrived and found Astafah naked in the basement of the mosque, where he was arrested again without incident.

He is accused of:

  • Trespassing in the third degree
  • one’s exposure

Ashtafa is due to appear in the First District Court on Wednesday, June 14.
