Two people were killed after a Hampton Jitney and a motorcycle crashed in Greenport on Tuesday night, police said.
Southold Town Police Department and Greenport Fire Department and Southold Fire Department responded to a major crash at the intersection of Highway 25 and Moores Lane. The bus exits Moores Lane, turns left and crosses the path of the westbound motorcycle driven by Anthony Gallo and Lorraine Haeg. Mr. Gallo was taken to Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries, while Ms. Haeg was taken to SBELIH and then to Stony Brook University Hospital by the Suffolk County Police Air Force. Ms Haig was later pronounced dead of her injuries.
The Southold Town Police Detective Unit and the New York State Police Accident Investigation Unit are investigating the collision as a non-criminal incident.
The road was closed for about four hours on Tuesday night.
