Shortly before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, Greenport emergency responders received a call to reports of a vehicle accident at the intersection of Interstate 25 and Moores Lane.
According to Southold Town Police, a Hampton Jitney bus struck the path of the motorcycle as it exited Moores Lane.
The motorcycle driver, Anthony Gallo, 62, was taken to East Long Island Stony Brook Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Gallo’s passenger, 74-year-old Southhold Lorraine Haeg, was initially taken to the same hospital before being transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.
The 52-year-old bus driver was hospitalized with minor injuries and has since been released.
The Southold Town Police Department and New York State Police are investigating the crash.
