Trammell Crow has released new details about its plan to replace a dead casino and restaurant in West San Jose with more than 1,000 homes.

A local subsidiary of the Dallas-based developer submitted preliminary plans last week for 1,027 apartments at the complex at 360 and 400 Saratoga Avenue, “Silicon Valley Business Daily” reports.

Affiliate High Street Residential Northern California Development has now submitted a detailed proposal to replace the defunct Garden City Casino and Harry’s Hofbrau restaurant and parking lot.

The project will include three seven-story apartment buildings located on 10.3 acres at Saratoga Avenue and Keely Avenue. Of these, 154 units will be reserved for affordable housing.

The first two floors of each building will include a car park. One building will include 13,500 square feet of ground-floor shops and restaurants.

Plans call for a 373,300-square-foot building containing 259 units and 350 parking spaces on the northwest corner of the property. On its east side will be a 600,000-square-foot building with 411 units and 452 slots. The southeast corner will contain a 512,500-square-foot building containing 357 apartments and 390 parking spaces.

The complex will include a 1.4-acre park with an amphitheater, as well as a smaller dog park.

New renderings by San Francisco-based WRNS Studio depict a putty and white complex featuring large windows and balconies, with floor-to-ceiling windows on the ground-floor extension and a pool deck on top.

A timeline for the project was not disclosed.

For Trammell Crow, a fourth casino replacement proposal could be attractive, as developers have set their sights on locally owned properties Pestana Properties and affiliated companies controlled by the Pestana family for many years.

In 2016, Prometheus Real Estate and Shorenstein made proposals for homes and shops. In 2020, Dutchints Development launched a hotel and office park. In 2021, Urban Catalyst has plans for offices, housing, a hotel and a senior residential complex. No ground was broken.

Garden City Casino relocated to North San Jose in 2012, Reopening as Casino M8trix. Harry’s Hofbräuhaus close the door In 2019, though it still operates restaurants in San Leandro and Redwood City, Business Daily reported.
