The United States Air Force Museum (AAM) is proud to present Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at the museumHangar 3, 1230 New Highway, Farmingdale, NY 11735.sponsor Claude B. Govan Tri-State Chapter, Tuskegee Airmen Inc.The forum features lively discussions about pilots by actual family members of those legendary fighter pilots.


The pilots, a group of brave and skilled African-American pilots who flew Mustang fighter jets to defend the B-17 against the Luftwaffe Messerschmitt were successful enough to convince President Harry S. Truman to After World War II, racial segregation of the military was abolished. Chapter Public Relations Officer Reynard Burns will discuss the origins of the Tuskegee Airmen and their accomplishments and importance then and now.


Of particular interest to military aviation enthusiasts is the full-scale fiberglass replica of the P-51D Mustang fighter jet that hangs from the ceiling of Hangar 3. The replica is based on the 1990s Mustang that AAM President Jeff Clyman flew during the American Air Show. Pilot Jeff Clyman will talk about the Mustang’s unique flight characteristics and armament. The museum currently owns an original P-51D Mustang “Jacqueline,” which flew at the Jones Beach Air Show and other venues across the Northeast.


The club will be offering a selection of Tuskegee pilot memorabilia for sale to benefit the club. They will also raffle off flights for members of the New York Metro Black Pilots Association, whose private jet will be parked outside AAM’s Hangar 3. The public is cordially invited to participate in this informative program. No tickets or pre-registration are required. Museum admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and veterans, and $12 for children ages 5-12. Hours of operation will be Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm all day at AAM, Hangar 3, 1230 New Highway, Farmingdale, NY 11735.
