Besart Astafa entered the Masjid Bilal Mosque at 425 Fulton Street in Farmingdale around 7 p.m. on Monday, June 12 without a shirt on, according to Nassau County Police.
Astafa, 28, from Deer Park, then completely undressed and ran around the mosque’s public areas.
He also walked up to an electronic tablet on the wall and smacked the screen twice with his fist.
He was arrested safely at the scene and taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Astafa is responsible for:
- Second Degree Criminal Mischief
- one’s exposure
- public obscenity
- Second degree criminal nuisance
His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, June 13 in the First District Court.
