According to Nassau County Police, the incident occurred around 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, at the North Lawrence Amazon warehouse.

A 28-year-old female security guard who was working at the time of the incident reported to police that she was at work and observed Aubrey Thompson, 35, who police said was homeless, standing in the warehouse with a black knife.

When she told Thompson he wasn’t allowed in the building, he turned and ran further away, and she called 911 for police help.

Officers who reported to the scene found Thompson in the second-floor parking lot and arrested him after a brief chase.

No injuries were reported.

Thompson was charged with:

  • third degree burglary;
  • Fourth degree illegal possession of a weapon; and
  • Second degree obstruction of official business

He is due to appear in First District Court on Wednesday, June 14.
