According to Nassau County Police, around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, June 11, the young victim attempted to cross the Sunrise Highway, heading south near St. Marks Avenue in Belmore.
While crossing the road, he was hit by a dark pickup truck traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway.
Officials reported that the truck driver did not stop and continued east.
The victim suffered head, leg and wrist injuries. He was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
