The accident occurred on Saturday, June 10 at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Bellport Avenue near Louise Avenue in Brookhaven.
Suffolk Police said Tayquan Mayodunmore, 29, from Bellport, was driving the ATV while intoxicated when the vehicle overturned.
The accident caused his passenger, Jessilyn Johnson of Medford, to hit her head on the sidewalk, police said.
She was taken by police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition.
Mayodunmore was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue for minor injuries.
He was later arrested and charged with the following:
- Drive after drunk
- Level 1 aggravated driving a motor vehicle without a license
- Secondary Reckless Hazard
Neither Mayotonmore nor Johnson was wearing a helmet at the time, according to police.
