It happened on Saturday, June 10 at around 10:30 a.m. on northbound State Parkway eastbound near Exit 29 in the town of North Hempstead.
Driver Erik Jimenez-Villeda, 23, of Freeport, was driving a 2011 Toyota Sienna when it left the lane and hit the right shoulder, before going off an embankment and hitting a tree, causing a minor accident. The van overturned, New York State Police said.
Jimenez-Villeda was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation and state police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or anyone with information to call 631-756-3300.
