Peter Kent, 61, was traveling eastbound on Park Avenue just before 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, according to New York State Police.
The accident happened near exit 32 at Oyster Bay.
Police reported that an initial investigation found that the 2021 Chevrolet Essurado in Kent had left the lane, hit the center guardrail, then returned across all lanes, onto the right shoulder of Parkway and hit a tree.
Kent was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigation is still ongoing.
