New York State Police announced today that it issued a total of 38,363 tickets statewide during its national “click or ticket” enforcement campaign.
The special execution period begins on Monday, May 22, 2023 and runs until Sunday, June 4, 2023.
During the event, funded in part by the Governor’s Transportation Safety Council, state police utilized sobriety checkpoints, additional DWI patrols, and ticketed distracted drivers using handheld electronic devices.
Police made 399 arrests for DWI and investigated 2,436 crashes, including 410 personal injury crashes and two fatal crashes.
As part of enforcement, Troopers target speeding and aggressive drivers across the state. Below is an example of the total number of tickets issued.

During last year’s Click It or Ticket enforcement campaign, which ran from Monday, May 23, 2022, to Sunday, June 5, 2022, State Police issued 40,038 tickets and made 441 DWI arrests.
