The incident occurred in Suffolk County on Wednesday, June 7 at approximately 5:30 p.m. at 2686 44th St. in Copige.

According to Suffolk Police, a man and his son were working as contractors at the residence when they got into an altercation with two residents of the residence.

The resident is a 34-year-old father whose 16-year-old son was stabbed during the altercation.

The contractor fled the scene in a work vehicle and called 911 from a nearby gas station to report the incident, police said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Suffolk County Police took the contractor into custody at the Valero gas station at 3359 Great Neck Road, Copige, shortly after.

Selvin Mills, 50, and Savion Mills, 19, both of Deer Park, were charged with:

  • two counts of assault
  • illegal possession of weapons
  • endanger the welfare of the child.

They were held overnight and are due to appear at Central Islip First Local Court on Thursday, June 8.
